Daily Review 12/18/1905

Sullivan, Ill, Dec 18-Instant death came to Henry Hampton, aged 65 years while at work in his grist mill in Sullivan Monday morning about 10 oclock. Mr. Hampton owned a small grist mill about two blocks east of the square in Sullivan and following his usual custom went there Monday morning to do some work. The mill is run by a small gasoline engine.
Mr. Hampton was caught in the belting, in some way and carried by it up to the shafting where he was crushed to death. It was fully ten minutes before he was found by his relative. Frank Drish came into the mill. He was appalled by the sight. Mr. Hamptons body was caught in the shafting and was dangling there in a horrible condition. Practically all the bones in the body were broken and the corpse hung loose and mangled. The entire room was splattered with blood. One foot was found in his shoe in a corner of the mill room
Hampton moved to Sullivan about two years ago coming from Hampton Station, where he had lived for years.
He leaves a wife whose soninlaw by a former marriage and it was he who discovered Mr. Harmon.
Both Mr.and Mrs.Harmon had been married before and he leaves no children.
An inquest was held by the corner Monday afternoon.
