ROOSEVELT--Steve Merrell Bellon, age 88, died Wednesday, April 23,1997 at his daughter's home in Ballard.
He was born May 14, 1908 in Salina, Utah to Frances Xavier and Della Bena Allred Bellon.
He married Norma Johnston, November 20, 1940 in Duchesne, Utah. She died May 4, 1982. Steve was a cowboy, truck driver and eventually restaurant owner/operator. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he was a member of Patton's famed Red Ball Express. He had been a member of the Roosevelt American Legion Post #64 since 1945.
Steve is survived by children, Susan Bellon and Kim Bellon, both of Roosevelt; grandchildren, Ashley Bellon, Jasmin Tahguv, Russell Bellon, Ben Bellon, Doug Bellon, Alyna Brinkerhoff, Francie Bellon, Josie Bellon; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Loyal, Doral, Arvin, Arlin and Drew Bellon; sisters, Kathleen Robinson; Louise Mehner; Carol Lagerstedt; Charlene Myers and Shanna Moore. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma; a son, Robert Stephen; sisters, Beth and Wanda Bellon, Beryl Mullins, Myrth Miller, Reida Bryce; and brothers, Mark and Ned Bellon.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 28 at the Ballard LDS Church. Friends may call at the Hullinger-Olpin Mortuary, Sunday 6-8 p.m. and at the church Monday, one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park with military honors by the Roosevelt American Legion Post #64.
