ZEB SWAIM'S SON MISSING

Zebedee L. Zwaim, living 7 or 8 miles north of Rensselear, is advertising through the papers of the north part of the state trying to locate his son Jesse L. Swaim.

Last June the boy was over working in the oil region, near Hartford City, and his father visited him there and that is the last time he has been seen or heard of by any of the family. Except that a young man afterwards reported to Mr. Swaim that he had seen Jesse working in South Bend about a moth after he was at Hartford City.

The missing boy is about 20 years old, weights about 150 pounds , has black hair and has a very conspiciuous scar on the forehead, over the left eye, and just at the edge of the hair. This was caused by his being kick by a horse when a small boy, and the skull being fratured left a permanent depression.

His long absence and complete failure to write has caused his parence, especially his mother, great anxiety and distress which is only natural under the circumstances.

Yet as during previous absences he had been away for several months at a time without writing would be a reason, on the other hand, for believing he is following the same course now, and that he will ultimately return or be heard from all right

ZEB SWAIM'S SON HEARD FROM

Zeb Swaim north of town, has heardfrom his 19 year old son Charley (Jesse), whom he advertised for as missing some weeks ago. The boy has been working for an elderly couple at South Bend for a long time past and is still with them. That he has never written home is probably owing to a peculiarity of his disposition.

DIES WHILE HE CONVERSES WITH FRIENDS

Jesse L. Swaim, Aix Storekeeper, Succumbs While Returning From Fishing Trip
Jessie L. Swaim, long a familiar figure in the life of Aix vicinity, where he was a storekeeper for 22 years and prior to that engaged in farming there, died late Thursday afternoon as he was conversing with Dal Ropp and William Schultz in front of the latter's home while he and Mr. Ropp were returning to their homes after fishing at Jungles ditch. Keeling over suddenly, he died instantly.

Coroner W. J. Wright pronounced a heart seizure as the cause of the popular citizen's death.

Mr. Swaim had not been in very good health for some time, but had not been subject to severe heart attacks.

He was 53 years old.

Mr. Swaim was a member of a family that settled in that section of Jasper County many years ago. The family is numbered among the most prominent of Barkley and Union townships.

He was born in Indiana on February 25, 1885, a son of Zebedee and Ida Clark Swaim. When he was quite young his parents moved to a farm near Aix. Twenty-two years ago Mr. Swaim opened a store at Aix which he had since operated.

He married Laura L. Switzer, member of another of the earlier Aix community families. She, with two children, Maurice L. Swaim of Rensselaer and Mrs. Lillian M. Grant of Mentone survives. Also surviving him are the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Fred Schultz of Rensselaer, Mrs. Albert Hurley of Buchanan, Mich., Mrs. Clinton Saidla of Kalamazoo, Mich., Mrs. Jerry Tullis of Waterloo, Iowa, Lenzie Swaim of Buchanan, Paul Swaim of North Webster and Elvin Swaim of Buchanan.

Mr. Swaim was a man of high character whom evereyone admired. His well spent life was marked by kindness and consideration toward his fellowmen. He exemplified all of the qualities of good citizenship and in his passing Aix community loses a citizen who richly deserved the respect and friendship that were shown him by all.

The funeral services will be held from Aix church at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon with the Rev. Goodlin in charge. Interment will be at Weston cemetery here.
