Melba Hoyt Watson was a native of New Llano, Louisiana, but had lived in Sulphur, Louisiana since 1949.

She worked as an office clerk for 30 years and was a member of Houston River Baptist Church.

Mrs. Watson passed away at the age of 81 in a local hospital.

Survivors include one son, Leon Watson, of Lacassine, LA, one sister, Helen Beltz, of Leesville, LA, three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Bro. Lonnie Gothrup, pastor of Houston River Baptist Church, officiated at the services for Mrs. Watson. Services were held at Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home on June 9, 2002. Burial was in Mimosa Pines South of Carlyss, Louisiana.
