OWENTON --- Sollie Clifton Sr., 64, of Owenton, died at 10 p.m. Wednesday in the Owen County Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was a native of Owen County, a member of the New Liberty Church of Christ and was an employe of the Complex Cable and Wire Co.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Edith Popp Clifton; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Ida Davis, Squiresville, and Mrs. Elmira Miller, Shipshewana, Ind.; four sons, Dave and Sollie Clifton Jr., Old New Liberty Road; John Clifton, Owenton, and Gene Clifton, New Liberty; a brother, Robert Clifton, Sanders; four sisters, Mrs. Birdie Miller, Worthville; Mrs. Mary Bibb, Butlerville, Ind.; Mrs. Nannie Fitzgerald, Vevay, Ind., and Mrs. Lena Mae Cannon, Squiresville; eight grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Smither-Coates Funeral Home by the Rev. John Ledford. Burial will be in the Squiresville Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home.
