Illness is Fatal to Noble Atherton

Following an illness of six weeks, Noble Atherton, Baltimore, Md., formerly 1742 Madison Ave., Dunmore, died Wednesday night in Baltimore.

Mr. Atherton was born in England, a son of the late Stephen and Jane Featherstone Atherton. He had lived here for 23 years and while a local resident had been employed as a salesman by the Wickham Co. He moved to Baltimore 10 years ago.

While here he had served as scoutmaster of the Boy Scout troop sponsored by Dunmore Presbyterian Church. He was a member of King Solomon Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons, and Dunmore Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Hilda B.; two sons, Raymond, Chinchilla, and William, this city; two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Walters and Miss Janet Atherton, this city; seven brothers, William Nu Mine, Pa.; Ralph, Mosgrove, Pa.; Stephen, England; Fred, Greensburg, Pa.; Christopher, Emporium, Pa.; Henry, Galeton, Pa., and Joseph, this city; two sisters, Mrs. Jack Smith, Freeport, Pa.; and Mrs. Henry Kopshina, West Virginia, and eight grandchildren.

The funeral will be held from the Snowdon Funeral Home, 1810 Sanderson Ave, on Monday at an hour to be announced. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 tomorrow night.
