FUNERAL RITES ARE HELD
FOR MRS. F. A. BRAMBLE

Galena, Kan., Jan. 31.—Funeral services for Mrs. F. A. [sic: S. A.] Bramble, 79 years old, former Galena resident who died at 11:55 o'clock Sunday morning at her home in Cardin, Okla., were held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the Little Mission church in Galena Heights, with the Rev. Lou Love officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Bramble had resided in Galena for many years, going from here to Cardin about six years ago. For a number of years, she operated a restaurant in Galena Heights. She is survived by a step-son, William Bramble of this city.

Biographical Notes:
Sabra was a native of Florida, but her birth date in census and marriage records was slippery, about 1840-1849, until seen on her marker, which she probably purchased at the time of her son's death. She was the daughter of Richard and Lavinia (Mary Ann?) McComb, the family living in Florida in 1850. The last name has been written both as McComb and McCombs.

On May 4, 1858, in Medina County, Texas, where her parents lived, Sabra A. "McCombs" married Reginald Musgrave. They had the one son, Richard K Musgrave. It is not known what happened to Reginald.

On January 25, 1877, "Anna Musgraves" married George M. West in Uvalde County, Texas. It is not known what happened to George. Both Medina and Uvalde Counties formerly were part of Bexar County, Texas.

On February 1, 1890, in Cherokee County, Kansas, George T Bramble wed S A West:
Bramble-West. MARRIED—By Hugh McKay, J. P., at his residence in Empire City. Kan., G. T. Bramble and Mrs. S. A. West.
The groom is one of the leading merchants Empire City and is well and favorably known to the citizens of this section, having resided here for a number of years. The bride is a stranger to us. She came from Austin, Texas, where she has resided for sometime and where she is considered by all who know her an estimable lady, in every way worthy to become the companion of our neighbor, Mr. Bramble. We wish the pair every joy in their new life.

Galena Weekly Republican, Galena, Kansas

In the 1895 Kansas census, the family was recorded as G T Bramble, born Ohio, age 50, Annie Bramble, a dressmaker, born Florida, age 50, Nellie Bramble, born Kansas, age 10, and Jennie West, born Holland, age 14. It is thought that Nellie might have been a niece of George's, and perhaps Jennie was a daughter of Annie's, but it is not known for sure.

In 1900, Annie Bramble, a widow, born December 1849, in Florida, is living in Empire City, Cherokee County, Kansas, and is recorded as having given birth to no children. She owns her home and operates a grocery. Multiple Galena newspaper articles reflect ads for the store.

The widow Sabra Bramble, age 70, born Florida, having born 4 children with none living, lived in Ward 5 (formerly Empire City) of Galena, Kansas, in 1910. She is the manager of a boarding house, which she owns. She is shown as born in Florida about 1840. In 1915, she is a restaurant keeper.

In 1920 in Galena, Annie S Bramble, age 81, born Florida, is a widowed restaurant waitress.
There is a "S A Bramble", female, who died in Ottawa County, Oklahoma, on January 30, 1927, who is buried in Oak Hill cemetery. Her dates there are 1848-January 30, 1927, and the name given is Annie Bramble. However, there is also a S A Bramble, for whom the data fits, and it will be George's "Annie", with 2 memorials.

In pension records, Sabra A Bramble, widow of George T Bramble, a Private in Company A of the 103 Illinois Infantry, died on January 27, 1927. That information was submitted in February of 1927. She had filed for a widow's pension on September 1, 1898.

The summary is that Sabra Ann "Annie" (McComb) Bramble, who was first married to Reginald Musgrave, and then to George M West, and finally to George T Bramble is buried here. She shares a marker, with no end date, on a memorial with her son, Richard K. Musgrave.
