Mrs. Sarah Bish was born at Rawlson (sic), Ohio, April 22, 1956, and passed away at Nelson, Nebr., May 14th, 1944, being 88 years and 22 days of age. She was one of twelve children. She grew to womanhood in Ohio and was married to John Bish in 1879. They came to Nora, Nebr., in 1903, and this has been their home ever since. Mr. Bish died in Nora in 1911.
Mrs. Bish was the mother of six children, three of whom have preceded her in death: Mrs. Ada Roush, Clara and Florence. The living children are: Fred of Clay Center, Mrs. Frances Litzenburg of Lincoln, and Andy of Harvard, Nebr. She leaves also thirteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
At the age of twenty years she joined the Methodist Chdrch (sic) at Rawlson (sic) and in 1919 she became a member of the Methodist Church at Nora.
It has been said of Mrs. Bish by her friends, "She was faithful to the church services when physically able to attend." She enjoyed being out in God's great out of doors and to raise beautiful flowers was one of her greatest delights. The small portion of God's earth that was hers was made beautiful by her hands.
The funeral services were held at her home in Nora, May 16th at 2:00 P.M., conducted by Rev. and Mrs. Clarence V. Powell of Nelson. Jesse Hamel and Mrs. Corwin Shipherd sang, Just AS I AM" (sic) and "Jesus Savior Pilot Me." The pallbearers were F.A. Woodhead, Clyde Gerbeling, Lem Roush, Chris Sorensen, J.E. Melvin and E.B. Wilson. The burial was in the Nora cemetery (sic).
She was ready to leave this world and we believe these words of John Greenleaf Whittier are very appropriate to her memory.
