Brother of Jefferson Springsteen and son of John Springsteen (1782-1867) and Mary Logan (1800- ). Birthdate approx.- info from Indiana Deaths 1882-1920 which gave age at death as 71, but 1825 is on headstone.

He most likely married Mary Anita Willett(s) in Hancock Co, Indiana, on 14 Dec 1853. (1910 Federal Census shows her living in Abraham's household, and her par b. KY; her death certificate states her father was b. KY.)

In 1860 Abraham was living with wife and 2 y/o son George W. in Indianapolis Ward 1. He was noted as a Master B[rick] Mason and born Ohio. In 1863, when the Federal government began income taxes to help pay for the Civil War, "Abel" was assessed $5.31 "ad valorem duty" on his income of $117.

By 1870 Abe and Mary had added son Henry, who was then 10. Abraham was working as a Constable in Indianapolis, a job his brother Jefferson had also held. The two boys were still living in the household with Abraham and Mary in 1880, when Abe was listed as a contractor. George was working as a "Traveling man" and Henry was at school. They had a servant in the household.

Abraham died in 1895, leaving his wife and two sons. Mary survived him by almost 16 years. They are buried alongside each other at Crown Hill.

Abraham may have been original purchaser of family plot per cemetery.
