Martha Jane Hampton born 22 Apr 1872 in Lamar County, Texas and died 29 Apr 1959 in Pomona, California. Her parents were William Lafayette Hampton born 09 Nov 1850 in Mississippi and
Angeline Pearce b abt 1851 in Illinois.

She married Felix Monroe Bobbitt on 27 Oct 1915 in Logan County, Ar. at the age of 43. They had one son, Felix Benjamin Bobbitt, two years later in 1917.

Her first husband was Charles Henry Harkey born 02 Apr 1860 in Georgia. They were married on 30 Mar 1892 in Barber, Logan County, Arkansas and had eight children. Charles Henry Harkey died 02 Apr 1906 in Barber, Logan Co., Ark.

Martha Jane Bobbitt, Ben's mother, went Blind later in life and ended up living with Ben and his wife in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They moved his mother with them to Pomona, California sometime in 1955, he recalls. He recounts that it was the hardest thing he ever had to do. His mom did not have Social security and only received a small pension of $20.00 a month from her husband's pension.

She died in LA County Hospital, California but was buried in Pine Log Cemetery in Logan County, Arkansas beside Felix Monroe Bobbitt. They are buried west of the little building near the fence in Pine Log. Zeb and Tom Bobbitt are also buried there.
