Guitarist and session musician. Although a classically trained musician, he began his career with a local skiffle band before joining Johnny Kidd & The Pirates as lead guitarist. He defected to Joe Meek's roster of artists with fellow Pirate Clem Cattini, where they became founding members of The Tornados. Shooting to international fame with "Telstar", he enjoyed a few bright years of stardom before the hits dried up. He joined Avenue records as in-house arranger and producer, also releasing some easy listening records of his own under the name The Alan Caddy Orchestra, then moved to Canada to continue his behind-the-scenes career. He returned to England in the 1970's, participating reluctantly from time to time in Tornados revivals but mostly living in obscurity.
