Fred Short, 84, of 806 Western died at 10:50 pm Monday at Mennonite Hospital.
Mr. short had worked 33 years in the Water Service Dept. of the Illinois Central Railroad before retiring.
He had been ill for several years.
His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Flinspach-Kurth Memorial Home, with the Rev. Joseph C. Cronenberg officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Short was born Jan. 22, 1885, in Bondville, a son of Charles C. and Emma Ann McCarthy Short.
Fred married Ella Gehrke in June of 1905, she died in Sept of 1906.
He then married Laura Manuel April 3, 1907 in Urbana Illinois.
Surviving are his wife, five sons, Clinton, Leslie, Clifford,of Bloomington, Delmar of Gilman and Howard S. Short of Augusta Ga., four brothers and four sisters in Ohio and Michigan, 15 grandchildren and 23 graet grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son Kenneth Short and two daughters,Harriett Gehrke and Maxine Short.
