"Charles Short, 93, Dies At Nursing Home Monday
Funeral Services Thursday At Brown Funeral Home
Charles C. Short, 93, a patient in the Ford county nursing home since March, died at 11:40 p.m. Monday in the Nursing home. His death was contributed to infirmities of old age.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Brown funeral home with Rev. Lloyde Strouse of the Methodist church officiated. Burial will follow in Glen cemetery.

Mr. Short was born August 13, 1859 at Vevy (sic) Ind., a son of Morton and Minerva Hayden Short.
His childhood was spent in Indiana and he was married in 1875 to Miss Emma McCarthy, who preceded him in death in 1922.
He was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad during its early stages and then farmed near Bondville. He also operated a blacksmith shop in Urbana, later moving to Indiana where he farmed. Mr. Short resided in Akron, O., where he was in the real estate business.

Since his retirement, he has resided with his sons, Fred Short of Gilman and Lee Short of Rankin. He was a member of the Methodist church in Cumberland County, Ind.

Survivors include five sons, Lee of Rankin, Fred of Gilman, Joe of St. Louis, Mo., George and Carl of Akron, O.; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Williams, Miss Ruth Short of Akron O., Mrs, Jessie Mikel of Danville, and Mrs. Lenora Bemis of Ann Arbor, Mich.; 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, James Short of Pasadena, Calif., and David Short of Los Angeles, Calif.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, two sons, and two sisters."
