Fred Morris, 61, of Route 2, Vidalia, died Sunday in Talmadge Memorial Hospital, Augusta, after a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Toombs County, he was employed by the Toombs County Public School System, and attended the Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from New Corinth Baptist Church near Vidalia with the Rev. Lonnie Hayes and Dr. William A. Berryhill officiating. Interment was in Pinecrest Cemetery with Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were: Eugene NeeSmith, Belvin NeeSmith, Talmadge Wilkes, Steve Wilkes, Herbert Rountree, Earnest L. Galbreath. Honorary pallbearers were: Campbell Register, Wade Garrett, G.P. Tippett, Ancle Kersey, I.D. Galbreath, Del Galbreath, Cecil McKuen, Sam Galbreath, Alonzo Wilkes, Garney Taylor, Ray Galbreath, Hiram Galbreath.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eva Belle Morris, Vidalia; two daughters, Mrs. Wynema Colvin, Vidalia and Miss Kathy Morris, Vidalia; four sons, Kenneth W. Morris, Macon, Philip, David and Richard Morris, Vidalia; five sisters, Mrs. Attis Ansley, Lyons, Mrs. Nellie Wilkes, Vidalia, Mrs. Ellene NeeSmith and Mrs. Corene Petty both of Gastonia, N.C., Mrs. Mary Jane Dyche, Lexington, Ky.; one brother, Leon S. Morris, Lyons; 8 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
