My father was a quiet, gentle man. He was extremely intelligent although did not graduate from high school and then college until many years later as he had to help around the house since his father was ill and there were mouths to feed. Family meant everything to him (he came from a family of 7 children) but only had myself and my brother. His love of animals was the best. I would bring them home and within weeks they would become "his dog" or "his horse". He just had a very special way with people and animals.

When my mother passed away early in 1999, my father lost his will to live and I truly believe he died of a broken heart. They had been married 55 years and he just couldn't live without her. My mother was cremated and lives with me (she always said she didn't want to be buried in the ground!) so it was only appropriate to have my father laid to rest next to his sister who was like a mother to him and his son. He always loved the country and Orland still has that feel to it today. I miss him tremendously.
