Kansas Pioneer Is Dead

Josiah Housh Came To This State In 1854

Josiah Housh, 69, who has been a resident of this state since 1854 died Tuesday night at Stormont hospital. His death was due to a stroke of paralysis which occurred Friday night. He has been troubled with apoplexy for some time.

Housh was born in Indiana in 1851. He moved to Jefferson county, Kansas with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Housh in 1854 and lived there until 1876

He then moved to Topeka where he has lived continuously since that time. He was employed by Paxton & Paxton store as a truck driver for a number of years. He was a member of the M. W. A. lodge. Housh was married to Eliza Catherine Goar in 1877. They were the parents of five children. Two are living: one son, George A. Housh of Tokepa, and one daughter, Mr. C. L. Woods of Forest avenue, Oakland, with whom he has made his home for the past year.

The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Seward Avenue Methodist church. Burial in Mount Hope cemetery.
