Ima was born in Lee County, Texas, and lived most of her life in Tanglewood and Rockdale, also having lived a short time as a young girl in Wharton County, Texas, and as a new bride in San Benito, Cameron County, Texas . . . she married Jacob Edmund Forrest Pounders on 20 October 1926 in Lexington, Lee County, Texas . . . after moving to Rockdale in the 1940s, Ima was employed by Linwood Mehaffey for almost half a century, first at Rockdale Dry Goods, then at Mehaffey's . . . she also worked briefly at Appleman's during World War II . . . she was a member of First Christian Church in Rockdale . . . Ima loved working outdoors with her flowers, and enjoyed creating unique useful items, especially anything she could crochet . . . after a brief stay as a patient at Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale, she left this world peacefully on the first day of spring, just as the morning sun was rising . . .
