Great Grandmother Anastasia Kouri Saad was a tall beautiful blue eyed lady. Her husband had a thriving export business in Tripoli, Syria. Great Grandmother wanted to go to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower and to shop. She was particularly fond of Organdy blouses, which was the rage at the time. The entire family went on vacation together. While in Paris the Turks invaded Syria and Great Grandpa decided it was too dangerous to return home. Anastasia had 2 brothers living in Portland Main. They were Jewelers and Rug Merchants and were doinng very well in the United States. So the Saad family set sail for America.
