John and his beautiful wife Anastasia made a striking cuple for they both were about 6 feet tall. John made his living as an export - import dealer for his store in Ttipoli, Syria. Their oldest daughter Theodora age 20, and her husband Michael Ferniany age 27, their three children Genevieve Ferninay age 5, Amelia Ferninay age 3 and Rose Katherine Ferniany age 6 months. Also on the trip was Johns second daughter Anna age 18 and her husband Noah Latoff. Other people on this trip were the rest of John and Anastasia's children, Elias age 16, Assod age 13, Alexander age 10 and Marie age 8. This trip took them to several countries before they crossed the Atlantic and docked in Boston on January 1902. The 13 members of the Sad family went through customs, much to the skepticism of the customs official. When the official asked how Mr. Saad was going to support this large family, John took off his money belt and threw it on the counter. The Customs official saw that the belt was filled with Gold, he opened the gates for the Saad Family and said "Enter".
