Richard O. Affeld, 61, died suddenly at 7 p.m. Friday at the home of his nephew, James Rhoda, south of Valparaiso.
The decedent was born in Porter County on February 26, 1883, a son of Gustav Affeld and Minnie Selke Affeld. He followed farming for a number of years and at the time of his death was employed as a plant guard at the Continental-Diamond Fibre Company. He was a member of Local 3227 International Association of Machinists.
Surviving are two sons, Walter and Harry Affeld; three grandchildren, Harley James, Nancy Ann and Jackie Affeld; and two brothers, Emil Affeld and Ernest Affeld.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the LePell Funeral Home on Monroe Street. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may call at the LePell Funeral Home from 2 p.m. Sunday and up until time of services.
