Mary Ann Beaver Mons was a graduate of the Class of 1964 of Statesboro High School and of Georgia Southern College with her Masters and Specialist degrees. Ann owned a private kindergarten (Kiddie Koral); she was a teacher at Sallie Zetterower Elementary School and Bulloch Academy and served as a school counselor at William James and Langston Chapel middle schools.

Ann was the initial advisor of the Y-Clubs of Statesboro and received the Jim White Award in 2004. A member of the Beta Sigma Phi and Delta Kappa Gamma sororities, she was also a recipient of a Deen Day Smith Award.

Ann was a member of the Statesboro First Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder, Sunday School Superintendent and a life member of Presbyterian Women.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Roy W. and Ruth McDougald Beaver; a sister, F. Jane Beaver, and a brother, John W. Beaver. Surviving were her husband, Kenneth Mons, and step-daughter, Heather Mons.

Pallbearers at Ann's funeral on January 24, 2008, were West Beaver, Clay Beaver, and Hank Beaver (nephews), and friends, Scott Brunson, Andy Colson, Tracy Joiner, Jason Wade, Jeff Vickery and Chess Moorer. Honorary pallbearers were teachers and staff at Langston Chapel Middle School.

The service was conducted by Rev. Kathy Parchem, interim pastor at First Presbyterian Church with eulogies given by Rev. Hubert Tankersley (friend and former principal), James Deal, Gerald Wade, and Phil Hulst (friends).
