RODDIE FESTUS BAILEY
Roddie Festus Bailey, 64, of Panama City, died Monday, June 16, 2008 in his home. He was born October 17, 1943 in Grenada, Mississippi. He graduated from Mississippi College with a Bachelors Degree in Physics. Roddie worked at the Naval Coastal System Station from 1965-1994. He was a developer for Southwind Condominiums, Peachtree Condominiums and Ibis Lake Development. Roddie was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and was chairman of the Phase II Building Committee. Roddie was appointed to the Florida Bar Citizens Forum in July 2001. The Citizens Forum is an advisory group of from 12 to 17 citizens with varied interests and backgrounds who provide two-way communication between the state's major citizen constituencies and the Bar's Board of Governors. From July 2003 until June 2004 he served as chairman. Following his service on the Citizens Forum, Roddie was asked by then Bar President, Henry M. Coxe, Jacksonville, to serve on the Special Commission on Lawyer Regulation. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Bailey. He is survived by his wife, Judy Bailey, son, Bowie Bailey and wife Deborah, of Ft Lauderdale, FL; daughter, Natalie Henschen and husband Scott, of Dover, DE, father, Festus Bailey, Jr., of Grenada, MS, two grandchildren, Justin and Brandon Henschen, and two brothers, James Bailey and wife Sue, of Memphis, TN, and Larry Bailey and wife Cathie, of Brandon, MS. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Panama City with Dr. Craig Conner officiating. The family will receive friends at the Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 – 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada, Mississippi. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the Garner Harper Funeral Home prior to the graveside. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1200, Panama City, FL 32402 in memory of Roddie Bailey.
