From the "Galena Weekly Republican," Galena, Kansas - Friday, 13 February 1914 - Page 4:

Mrs. Sarah (sic) Allen who resided in Galena Heights, died at her daughter's home in Muskogee, Okla., Saturday afternoon at 4 o’clock. Death came after an operation for appendicitis.

Mrs. Allen recently went to Muskogee for a short visit with her daughter, Mrs. Frank Peters, but while there she became seriously ill and was forced to undergo an operation at the hospital. She died shortly afterward.

Mrs. Allen was well known in Galena, having resided in Galena Heights for many years. Her body was brought here last evening.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Frank Peters, of Muskogee; Mrs. R. Vann and Mrs. Ellis Manfield of Washington, and three sons, Alfred and Clyde Allen and Henry Pilkington.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 o’clock this afternoon from the Galena Heights Church, burial in Oak Hill cemetery.

Notes on Sabra’s marriages and known children:

Sabra (Creech) Pilkington Allen was born to Henry and Mahala Creech. Her first marriage was to Archibald Pilkington on June 23, 1870, in Dade County, Missouri. It is unknown what happened to Archibald. By him, Sabra had four children, 3 daughters and a son. They were Loucinda “Lulu” VanVranken, Nancy Elizabeth Mansfield, Lillian “Lillie” Peters, and William Henry Pilkington.

Sabra’s second marriage was to Samuel Allen, on July 25, 1881, in Cedar County, Missouri. To this couple were born Alfred, Clyde and Ruth Allen. The 1900 census reported that she had given birth to 9 children, 7 of whom were living. The widow Allen in 1910 was reported with 9 children born, 6 living, as her daughter Ruth had died in 1900, and her husband Samuel in 1905.
