Clara's obituary was printed on 07-Mar-1949, presumably in the Lebanon Reporter (Lebanon, IN):

"Clara McDaniel Expires Today - Services To Be Held At Dover Wednesday - Mrs. Clara Ellen (Randel) McDaniel, 86 years old, prominent Boone County woman, died at 1:45 o'clock this morning at her home on State Road 32 at the west edge of Lebanon.

Her death was due to a cerebral hemorrhage, following an illness of three months. Bedfast for almost eight years, she showed patience and courage and was an inspiration to all who came in contact with her.

Mrs. McDaniel was a native of Montgomery County and was the daughter of William and Susan (Hinkel) Randel.

Most of her life was spent in Boone County. She and Mr. McDaniel, who died October 26, 1946 two days after their 66th wedding anniversary, lived on the old McDaniel homestead, one mile north of Dover, until 1914. In that year, she moved to her present home, which Mr. McDaniel built, where she resided 35 years until her death. The couple was married in Boone County October 24, 1880.

She was a member of the Dover Christian Church and Ladies Aid Society at Dover.

Survivors are a son, Buren McDaniel, of Lebanon; five grandchildren, James McDaniel, of Bloomington, and Mrs. Frank Poynter, Leo Taylor, Mrs. Haven Rice, and Mrs. Winfred Ginn, all who live near Dover. Six great-grandchildren also survive. They are Janet, Jean, and Jan Poynter, Eddie Rice, Danny Ginn, and Jamie McDaniel. Mrs. McDaniel was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Her only daughter, Mrs. O. V. Taylor of west of Lebanon, died December 23, 1947. She was also preceded in death by one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Dover Christian Church with a nephew, the Rev. Ora McDaniel, officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. Raymond Duff, pastor of the Dover Church. Burial will be in the cemetery at Dover.

Pall bearers will be Earl Hartman, a nephew who was reared in the McDaniel home, James McDaniel and Leo Taylor, grandsons of Mrs. McDaniel, and Frank Poynter, Haven Rice, and Winfred Ginn.

The body is at the Russell and Hitch Funeral Home in Lebanon where friends may call this evening after 7 o'clock. It will be removed to the residence at 5 p.m., Tuesday where friends may call until noon Wednesday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state one hour preceding the service."
