John Drummond was born in a fort on the Ohio River on January 12, 1812. His father while fighting with General Harrison at Tippecanoe, was killed November 7, 1811. His mother married John Farris soon after the death of the first husband. John lived with his mother until 16 years of age then went to live with his grandfather and remained there until January 21, 1836, when he united in marriage to Miss Nancy Jane Roe. Mr. And Mrs. Drummond lived on the Ohio River until 1851 when they came to this county, settling down on the farm where he spent the remainder of his days.

Mr. and Mrs. Drummond were the parents of 8 children, two of who preceded the parents to the other world. They were John Philip who died in 1859 at age 13 years and Sam who died in 1891 at age 33. He leaves six children to mourn his death: Mrs. Marion Hardway, Mrs. F.A. Welsh, James, David, George and Miss Martha. Besides the 6 children, he leaves 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. His mother and only brother died several years ago.

A short funeral was held at the house on Monday and he was laid to rest beside his wife in Medsker Cemetery.
