Lavon, 82, of Grapevine died on the pioneer family home place. He had gone to clear out the land-line, over near the Springhill Cemetery getting ready for deer season. He had cut one small tree into firewood, laid the chain saw down on his four wheeler and was Home to his reward.

He was born at Grapevine the son of Joseph Martin and Nancy Hattie Ginnett Clement.

He attended a on-room school house at Lamont until they consolidated with Grapevine High School where he graduated. He was a member and Elder of Pine Ridge Cumberland Presbyterian Church, served as church treasurer for a number of years, a member of White Sulphur Masonic Lodge #122 for over 50 years and past president of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union local #155, being a member for over 45 years.

He was an avid turkey hunter and loved to work on old guns or anything that was broke and needed fixing, pretty much a "jack of all trades". He served in Germany and France during World War II with the 314th Combat Engineers, 89th Division. He was a member and officer of Woodman of the World Lodge #6. He was a Woodman member for 63 years. He and Audra were delegates to the Jurisdiction Convention in March 2003. His and Audra's picture is in a photograph taken at the Jurisdictional Convention in Hot Springs.

He was married to Audra Laviona Ashcraft on July 6, 1942. They have five children, Martha Lou Clement Helvey Lowman, Sherland Lavon "Bub Cloement, Nancy Marnette Clement Wafford, Melvin "Keith" Clement and Charles Rober "Rod" Clement.

Services sere at Memorial Garden Funeral Home at Sheridan with Rev. Billy Ashcraft officiating. (559 signed the guest register). Active pallbearers: Billy Carol Ashcraft, Kenneth Monk, James B. Clement, Freddy Pierce, Joe Appling. Honorary pallbearers: A.K. "Short" Clement. A graveside Masonic service was conducted at the cemetery.
