OVERBROOK, KS - George A. Criger, 88, Overbrook, Kansas, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, in Overbrook, Kansas.

He was born Nov. 22, 1915, in Slope County, North Dakota, the son of Jacob and Gertie (Simpson) Criger.

He owned and operated the Orchid Buffet in Chanute, KS, for several years, retiring in 1970.

On Dec. 31, 1936, he married Helen Hoag. She survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Robert Criger, Altoona, KS, Donald Criger, Humboldt, KS, and Mark Criger, Overbrook, KS; two daughters, Virginia Marti, Natchez, MS, and Michele Nunnenkamp, Altoona, KS; a brother, Dick Criger, Grove, OK; a sister, Cora Travis, Augusta, KS; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jay Criger; and a grandson, Martin Criger.

Private graveside services will be held Jan. 19, 2004, at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Chanute, Kansas.

Memorials to Midland Hospice may be left with the funeral home.
