Mark David Mahaffey, 82, of Brewster, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 1997, in the Okanogan Douglas District Hospital at Brewster.

Mark was born March 13, 1914, the son of Walter and Carrie (Baugess) Mahaffey at Premier, W.Va. He moved at an early age to Bramwell, W.Va., where he attended school.

He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 20, where he served for eight years. Mark then worked in Alaska on construction during World War II. He received a master plumber's license in 1950 in California, where he practiced the trade for several years. Mark then traveled all over the United States, finally winding up in 1959 in Washington state, where he has since resided, working mostly at the Zahn Orchards of Methow for some 20-odd years until retiring to Brewster in 1988.

He married Glenda Smith in 1974 at Bridgeport.

Mark enjoyed fishing and just visiting with friends.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda, at the home in Brewster; three sisters, Ruth Gross and Alma Anello, both of Bramwell, W.Va., and Carlyle Mahaffey of Richlands, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Services are under the direction of Barnes Chapel, Brewster.
