Clarence Leroy Hill, 87, Klamath Falls, died Aug. 14, 1994 in Klamath Falls.

He ws born in Idaho to Clare and Olive Sullivan Hill.

He was a Klamath Basin resident since moving with his family from Idaho to the Klamath Basin more than 80 years ago.

He was a graduate of Henley High School and the University of Oregon. While at the latter, he was a member of the track and cross country teams, coached by Bill Hayward.

He served in the Army during World War II with the 10th Mountain Division in the Aleutians, the South Pacific and Okinawa.

He was married June 20, 1949, to Lillian Redkey in Klamath Falls.

Mr. Hill spent most of his adult life as a farmer and a school teacher, retiring from teaching in 1972 and from farming in 1978 after farming in the Mt. Laki area for 50 years.

He was a member of the Klamath County Retired Teachers and the Historical Society.

He enjoyed sports, especially the Henley High School teams. He was also interesed in genealogy, traveling throughout the United States to visit distant cousins and research his family tree.

In the 1930s and 1940s, he loved cross country skiing at Crater Lake.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian of Klamath Falls; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Rich Pickard, Los Gatos, CA; grandchildren, Robby, Jake and Jamie Pickard, all of Los Gatos; brother, Ralph Hill, Klamath Falls; numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Olive "Bridget" Marshall.
