Jones, leader in social and civic life of Charlotte and beloved by a wide circle of friends, who died suddenly of a heart attack Wednesday morning at her home at Ransom place, will be held at the home this morning at 11:30 o'clock. Rev. Dr. Albert Sidney Johnson, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, will be in charge of the services. Interment will take place in Elmwood cemetery.

Active pallbearers will include F. M. Caldwell, Harvey Moore, C. C. Coddington, Dolph M. Young, J. H. Taliaferro, George E. Wilson, Jr., Lawrence Dodsworth and John Tate.

The deceased had been in declining health for some years, but she was apparently in better health on Tuesday than for many days. Her sudden death caused a distinct shock to her family and many friends in Charlotte and elsewhere.

In civic activities Mrs. Jones gave her whole hearted support, and her efforts were untiring in the promotion of things worth while. She was a woman of charming personality and possessed an unusually brilliant mind. She was the daughter of the late Colonel John Lindsay Morehead and Sarah Smith Phifer. Mrs. Phifer was the daughter of the late William F. Phifer.

Born and raised in Charlotte, Mrs. Jones was a leader in the social life of the city. Having extensively traveled throughout the state she also was well known and admired by many friends in North Carolina.

Mrs. Jones before her marriage was Miss Margaret Morehead. She married the late Dr. Simmons Baker Jones on January 18, 1882. Dr. Jones died in 1907. To this union four children were born.

Early in life Mrs. Jones affiliated herself with the First Presbyterian church and until her death she was devoted to that faith.

Surviving Mrs. Jones are one son, Morehead Jones, and three daughters, Mrs. W. R. Taliaferro, Mrs. Carol D. Taliaferro and Mrs. H. A. Morson, all of Charlotte. Four grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Jones received her education at the old Burwell school, predecessor of the Presbyterian college and now Queens college. She also attended the Carey school for girls at Baltimore. In her class work Mrs. Jones was thorough and studious. She possessed a rare combination in excellence of character and personality.
