Mrs. J.W. Dean Is Dead;
Sick since Last May, Funeral Service Will Be Held at the
Home Tomorrow Afternoon, Burial at Miriam

Mrs. Nancy A. Dean, wife of Dr. J. W. Dean, both old and well known residents of Maryville, died this morning at 3:30 o'clock after an illness of several years. Since May 11 she had been helpless, not even able to turn herself in bed nor ask for a drink of water. All through this time Dr. Dean has been constant in his attendance and untiring in his care, and this fall her retired from active practice of his profession and has devoted all his time to the afflicted wife. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence and will be conducted by Rev. Gilbert S. Cox, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Burial will be at Miriam Cemetery.
Mrs. Dean was born September 28, 1845, at Gosport, Ind., where she grew to womanhood and was educated in the public schools at that place. August 20, 1863 she married Dr. Dean. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Nodaway County and settled in Maryville where they have since made their home. Besides her husband she leaves four children, Dr. Charles G. Dean of Burlington Junction, Mrs. Daisy Douglas, of Plattsmouth, Neb., Dr. Leslie Dean of Maryville and Miss Ethel Dean of Maryville. Another son, Dr. Llewellyn Dean, died four years ago.
