WILLIAM W. "BILL" ADAMS, JR. was born on December 29, 1915 at Joiner, Arkansas, and died on November 20, 2004, in Houston, Texas where he was a resident for 30 years.

Graduated from Northeast Louisiana University, Monroe, Louisiana and attended Henderson State University, Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, first as Aviation Machinist Mate, First-Class at U.S. Naval Air Station, New Orleans, Louisiana and later aboard USS LST #284, as engineer officer, in the South Pacific Amphibious Force. He served as a Lt. (JG) in Naval Reserve until 1953.

Employment career covered a total of 47 years in gas transmission and chemical refinery operations; with Memphis Natural Gas Co., Chevron/California Co. and retired from Transco Energy in 1985. A member of Pioneer Oil Producers Society, NLU Alumni Association, NLU Athletic Association "L" Club and LST Association.

Survived by his wife of 66 years, Marguerite Barwick Adams; son, Robert D. Adams, also, granddaughters, Rebecca and Kathryn, and their mother, Mary Irene Murray; daughter and son-in-law, Christie and Eddie Gallagher of Ely, Minnesota.

Family and friends visitation will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004 at Brookside Funeral Home, Champions.

Funeral services will be held at Spring Woods United Methodist Church, 1711 F.M. 1960 West, at 12 Noon, Wednesday, November 24th with reception to follow. Interment will be at Houston National Veterans Cemetery.

The family requests memorials be made to the Memorial Fund at Spring Woods United Methodist Church, 1711 F.M. 1960 West, Houston, Texas 77290.
