GEORGETOWN - Mary Bath Cox, 74, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, at home.
She was born May 17, 1924, in Georgetown, a daughter of the late Benjamin Marion Bath and Susan Gertrude Shackelford Bath.
She was the widow of John Carroll ``J.C.'' Cox, who died July 17, 1998.
She was a graduate of Winyah High School. She was a former secretary at Georgetown County Sheriff's office and the Georgetown County Magistrate's office. She was appointed to fill out Magistrate William E. Johnson's term of office at his death. She continued to be associated with the Magistrate's office until retirement.
Mrs. Cox was a charter member of Wayne United Methodist Church; a former superindendent of the children's Sunday school department; and a member of the Curtis Bell Sunday School Class.
Survivors include a son, John Carroll Cox Jr. of Andrews; a daughter, Debbie C. Smith of Andrews; two sisters, Elizabeth Bath Benton of Sumter and Margaret Bath Rader of Georgetown; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at the home on Loril Street.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Wayne United Methodist Church. The Rev. Joseph D. Flowers and the Rev. B.H. Rader will officiate. Burial will be in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
