Mary Ann Nichols was born near Sugar Grove, Illinois. Her father died in 1863. She first married George Ellis on January 1, 1878, and then married George N. Schoonmaker on December 16, 1886 in Kane County,Illinois. At the time of her mother's death in January of 1893 she was living in St. Paul Minnesota. Her husband died in 1902 and she died in 1903. She and her husband are buried in Los Angeles.
