"Mrs. Laura Garriott Dead.

Mrs. Laura A. Garriott died about noon Thursday, March 20, after a short illness of heart trouble. While she had been in failing health for more than a year, she had been able to attend to her household duties and was conducting the New Commercial Hotel.

The deceased was a most exemplary Christian woman and was held in the very highest esteem. She was the daughter of pioneers, Mr. and Mrs. William Cravens, both decreased, and was the widow of John V. Garriott, who passed away several years ago.

Mrs. Garriott leaves to mourn her death, two daughters, Mrs. Flora Hougland and Mrs. Marie Berger, of this place, and one son, Von Garriott, of Chicago; also four sisters, Mrs. Robert Sample, of California; Mrs. Mark Storen, Mrs. William L. McClain and Mrs. J. Thomas Gardner, all of Scottsburg, and one brother, Alfred M. Cravens, of Scottsburg.

The funeral was held Monday, with burial in the Cravens cemetery near Vienna."
