Samuel T. "Sammy" Austin Age 82, of Townsend, died Sunday March 12, 2000 in Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mr. Austin retired in 1994 after 58 years with George & Lynch Construction Co. where he had been a past Superintendent. Mr. Austin was 77 when he retired. He and his family are known for their Christmas Holiday light display which he helped design for many years at his home off of Summit Bridge Road, South of Townsend.
Mr. Austin is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen L. Austin; 2 sons, James S. Austin and Larry W. Austin, Sr., both of Townsend; 2 daughters, Betty David of Odessa and Sandy Carty of Townsend; 1 brother, Clarence "Buddy" Austin and 1 sister, Ruth Ivory, both of Townsend; 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. in the DANIELS & HUTCHISON FUNERAL HOME, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Townsend Cemetery.
