Russell S. BOWER, 80, JPM Road, Lewisburg R.D. 2, died Tuesday afternoon at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg, where he had been hospitalized since suffering a stroke Sept. 25. Born Sept. 3, 1900, in Berwick, he was a son of the late Boyd H. and Ida SITLER BOWER. He was married 57 years ago to the former Eudora SPONENBERG, who survives. Mr. BOWER resided in Lewisburg for the past 12 years, moving there from the Scranton area where he resided for 41 years. He retired in 1965, after 41 years service with Pennsylvania Power & Light Co. in the Scranton area. He last held the position of systems supervisor. Mr. BOWER was a member of Beaver Memorial United Methodist Church, Lewisburg, Waverly Lodge, F&AM, and the Williamsport Consistory. A son, David, died in 1970. Mr. BOWER was the last of five children.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Janice ERICKSON, Lewisburg R.D.; a son, William R., Lancaster; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. from Beaver Memorial Church. Burial will be Mazappa Cemetery, Mazeppa, under the direction of the Gary H. Conrath Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg.
