George Alexander Freeman and his family arrived in Wabash Co. in 1846, settling on land west of Urbana in what was then known as the 'Bear Swamp'. We (myself and my co-researcher) have 'selected' Alexander as his middle name; he did sign Wabash Co. tax records as 'George A. Freeman' (we have no absolute proof of his middle name). He was my maternal 3-greats grandfather. George is said to have fathered 12 known children; it has been reported that he had at least three marriages (although we have documentation for only two). The family first settled in Carroll Co. Indiana in about 1834.

Known Children:
John
Telitha
David
Commodore Perry
William
Riley
Hiram
Sarah Ann
Permelia
George
Mary Jane
Alexander

We have identified 10 of the above mentioned surviving children. Our research on the eldest child (John) is still inconclusive. Another of the children (Sarah Ann) has been identified in Wabash Co. marriage records as being married to William Keep, who had service in the Mexican War, on July 17, 1849. William and Sarah Keep (along with an infant son) are enumerated in the 1850 Census in Wabash Co. Indiana quite close to the George Freeman household. William Keep was again married in Wabash Co. Indiana in 1853.
