Selma J. Kovar, 89, Clarkston, passed away July 8, 1999 at the Galles Shelter Home in Clarkston.

She was born May 1, 1910 in Soldier, KS to Benjamin Edwards and Nancy George Edwards.

She married Edd J. Kovar on March 30, 1932 in Topeka, KS. She resided in Rossville, KS from 1932 to 1941, moving to Wenatchee in 1941, and later to Clarkston in 1990. Selma was employed in the fruit industry for a number of years and was a former manager of Hatfield's Yardage Store in Wenatchee. She was a lifetime member of Central Christian Church in Wenatchee, active as a church leader and member of several committees. Selma enjoyed camping, fishing and travel with her husband. She was an accomplished seamstress and needleworker and quilter who made many beautiful pieces for family and friends. Selma was noted for her love and care for her family and friends.

She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Littlefield of Clarkston; a son, Duane Kovar of Bothell; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceeded in death by her husband, Edd, on Jan. 16, 1989 and three brothers, Clarence, Russell and Leonard Edwards.

Services will be held Tuesday, July 13, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Jones & Jones Funeral Directors in Wenatchee, followed by burial in Evergreen Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation or Central Christian Church, Wenatchee.
