Robert Andrew McDaniel was the seventh of eight known children of James McDaniel (22 May 1810 to 17 Dec 1852, died at Texas, Lamar County?) and Margaret Louisa Stevenson (1811-1866), who married c1837 at presumably Missouri. The widow Margaret and some or all of her children moved from Texas to Tulare County, California before 1860, possibly 1859.
Robert married Caroline Elizabeth Besse (1861-1956) on 13 Jun 1888 at Tulare County, California. Robert and Caroline were the parents of two known children, namely:
1. Robert M. McDaniel (1889-1953)
2. Martha Eleanor McDaniel (1905-1920)
Robert originally lived in Visalia when he came to California in 1859. A few years later he moved to the Yokohl Valley with his sister Martha. In 1877 he homesteaded his ranch at Woodville and lived there until September, 1907 when he moved to Tulare. Carrie came to the Tulare County, California area in 1886
