Rites at 2:00 For Robert B Patterson

Services will be held at 2:00 o'clock this afternoon at the Methodist Church for Robert B Patterson, farmer and dairyman, who died at 11:00 o'clock Tuesday morning of a heart attack. Mr. Patterson, who lived two miles east of town, was stricken in the home of his sisters, the Misses Effie and Lola Patterson on Church Street, where he had stopped for a visit.

The service will be conducted by the Rev. E Allen Bailey and the choir will be in charge of music. Burial will be in the I O O F Cemetery under the direction of Barry Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be relatives and close friends, Jim Patterson, Joe Wade Ellis, John Harold Reifers, Pat Reifers, W H Gregory and Frank Jones. The body will remain at the residence until time for the service.

Mr. Patterson, who would have been 58 in February, had had a heart condition for several years but was still actively engaged in his work and had felt unusually well the past few weeks. He had arisen early Tuesday morning and prepared breakfast for his wife and himself. He spoke of how well he felt. He drove into town with Mrs. Patterson who is employed in the school lunch room, then went to visit with his sisters, where he again said he was feeling better than he had in some time. When he suffered the attack he told his sisters not to call his wife, that he would be all right. However, they hurriedly called a doctor and Mrs. Patterson. He died before either arrived.

Mr. Patterson was born in Nettleton and came here when a small child. He spent the remainder of his life here and in Shannon. He was a member of the Methodist Church and was held in the highest esteem. His interest was centered chiefly in his family, his home and his farming and dairying. About 37 years ago he married the former Miss Lula Smith.

He leaves his wife, a son, Robert B Patterson Jr. of Independence, Virginia, a daughter, Mrs. Jimmy Tucker of Hot Springs, Arkansas, a brother, Raywood Patterson of Okolona, eight sisters, Mrs. John Reifers, Mrs. Lora Burt, Mrs. Emmitt Ellis, Miss Effie Patterson, Miss Lola Patterson, Mrs. Gertrude Braziel, all of Okolona, Mrs. Lucy Springer of Memphis and Mrs. Ed Stegall of Lepanto, Arkansas. He also leaves six grandchildren.

The son and daughter and other relatives came immediately upon receipt of the message.
