Robert Benton "Buster" Burnside of Dry Creek, W.Va., passed away Saturday, June 25, 2005, at Charleston Memorial Hospital, Charleston.

He was born July 31, 1918, at Marfork, W.Va., a son of the late T.J. and Eva Ballard Burnside. He was a member of the Dry Creek Presbyterian Church and an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a retired coal miner and member of the UMWA, and the world's best storyteller.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Bradford Burnside, who passed away one year ago on June 26, 2004; and a brother, Don Burnside.

He is survived by a brother, Bill Burnside of Beverly Hills, Fla.; three sisters, Maxine Bradford of Dry Creek, W.Va., Geraldine Staggers of Spring Hill, Fla., and Eileen Martin of Beckley, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Greg Jarrell.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, at the Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, W.Va., with CLP David Pettry officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas, W.Va., with military graveside rites by members of the U.S. Air Force.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 27, at the funeral home.
