Mr. Holmes was a plumber and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a resident of Gloster.
He was preceded in death by his wife,[Ida] Maude Harris Benson Holmes; and his parents, Bea and Addie Belle Mosier Holmes [Ellis].
He was survived by five sisters, Neoma Toney of Nederland, TX [full sister], [half-sisters] Hazel Burns of Lafayette, LA, Mary Ann Bland of Orange, TX, Violet Self of Anacoco, LA and Norma Smith of Houston, TX; two half brothers, Stanton Ellis of Pasadena, TX and Alford Ellis of Jacksonville, FL; and numerous cousins.
