Frances Pauline Collins, 76, died at 7:10 a.m. today, Jan. 26, 2000 , at Willow Manor Nursing Home.
Born July 4, 1923, in Vincennes, she was the daughter of Harry and Ermie Esta ( Gerdley ) Wright.
Collins worked at Brown Shoe Co. for 15 years and retired from the 3-D Department store. She had performed at the Pantheon Theater and won an award at the Indiana State Fair for her Minnie Pearl-based chaaracter, " Lula-Mae ". In later years, she performed her character as a community service for churches and nursing homes. She was a member of Bethlehem General Baptist Church since 1960 and taught Sunday School.
Survivors include a daughter, Kay Fleetwood of Vincennes; a son Ronnie Collins of Petersburg; two sisters, Mary McMillin of Bruceville and Mildred Duke of Anderson; a brother, Paul Wright of Anderson; and three grandchildren.
A brother, two sisters, and a grandchild are deceased.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gardener-Brockman Funeral Home. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Petersburg.
Vistation will be after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
