Ronald Phillip Ellis was the son of Carl Ira and Maude Olive Grace Ellis. He was born near Rose Hill, Iowa. He graduated from Rose Hill High School and then served in the united states Army in WWII. He fought in central Europe and the Rhineland and was a prisoner of war for 7 months. Ron was decorated with several medals and ribbons including 3 bronze battle stars. He was discharged in 1945 and returned to Rose Hill. He was employeed as a farm hand for Roger Stringfellow for many years and was also a substitute mail carrier in the Rose Hill area. Ron was a avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. Ron was never married. He died in his rural homestead farm at the age of 84yrs 2 months and 5 days.
He had a sister Marilyn Ellis Welch of Oskaloosa and a deceased brother Carl Robert Ellis.
