A former resident of Thornfield, Mr. Turner had lived in Ava for the past 24 years.
He died at 1 P.M. Saturday, November 29 at Mercy Hospital, Mansfield, following a short illness.
He was a member of Mt. Lebanon General Baptist Church and a life member of VFW Post 5366, Isabella. Mr. Turner was a veteran of WW I having served overseas.
He had served as church clerk, Sunday School teacher and Sunday School Superintendent, and was a deacon since 1937.
Born March 27, 1893 at Thornfield, he was the son of the Rev. C.V. Turner and Myrtle Tennie Clements. He married Nora Jennings on March 6, 1921 at Thornfield.
Survivors include his wife, Nora, of the home; three sons, Orville, Taneyville; Robert, Ava; and Clinton, Ontario, Ore.; two brothers, Melvin, Thornfield; and Trellis, Kansas City; five sisters, Mrs. Glessie Creason, Iola, Kansas; Mrs. Roxie Jennings, Rich Hill; Mrs. Lela Daniels, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Lorraine Richardson, Jacksonville, Ark.; and Mrs. Naomi Walker, Ava; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Nine brothers and sisters preceded him in death."
