Taken from Shelbyville newspaper, added by Reva Staggs, grand-daughter.

I remember grandaddy as a quiet, hardworking farmer, who got up on Sunday morning and milked the cows, ate breakfast, took off his overalls and put on his white, dress shirt and tie. He then sat down in the living room and studied his Sunday school lesson for the class he would later teach. Grandma would be in the kitchen preparing communion. Later, someone nearby would stop by and give them a ride to church, as he never owned a car.
Until the very last of his life he continued to work on his farm.

A tribute to the life he lived, the small Unionville Church was filled with family and friends and numerous floral arrangements . The accapella voices of all his grandchildren and their spouses provided the most melodious sounds ever heard in that small builing.
