MRS. C. E. STONE DIES AT HOME NEAR RED BIRD
The Red Bird community was saddened to learn Thanksgiving Day, November 22, that one of its beloved citizens. Mrs. C. E. Stone, had passed away at her home following a long illness.
She had reached the age of 72 years, 1 month and 1 day. Mrs. Stone had been in failing health for a number of years, and was seriously ill for a week before her death. Funeral services were held Sunday from the home to the Oak Grove Church, of which she was a member, with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Mallow, the pastor, conducted the services.
Amelia Augusta Stone was born in Phelps county on October 21, 1873, a daughter of the late Charles and Susan Breuer. She grew to womanhood in the Oak Grove community and on April 3, 1892, was united in marriage to Charles E. Stone. To this union eight children were born, one of whom, Everett, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband and the following children: Edgar of Bland: Mrs. Florence Kiger of Red Bird; Pfc. Russell Stone, who is serving in the armed forces in the Pacific; Arthur of California; Martin of Marshall: Mrs. Eunice Wynn and Mrs. Thelma Satterfield of St. Louis. She is also survived by three brothers and two sisters John Breuer and Mrs. Katie Diestelkamp of Rosati: Mrs. Anna Diestelkamp of St. Louis; Albert Breuer of Maplewood and Oscar Breuer of St. James; fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Mrs. Stone took an active interest in the affairs of the community Besides being active in church work she was active in the work of the Extension Club of Red Bird.
