"14 Mar 1898 Cloth casket & box lined with carpet for Lucinda Wyatt, age 60 yrs, she made her home with Fred Wyatt, her son. She died Saturday 12th about 9:00 at night. Vern Harden came after us and we went out. They lived 6 miles north of Warren. It rained all the way going. Jode Shultz & Ira Brown went, it rained all night, so we stayed until morning. Fillmore Metcalf & wife were there. We ate breakfast and came home. The pike was bad. Monday 14th Ira Brown went with hearse, ate dinner at the Wyatt home, the funeral was at 2:00 at Christian Church conducted by Rev. Strickland of Huntington. We buried her in the Plumtree Cemetery. Mrs. Wyatt died of dropsy. They telegraphed for her son in Michigan but he did not come. It was almost dark when I arrived home."
