First wife of Robert Nixon Downs (1822-1882). Robert and Jane were married on September 17, 1855 in Delaware County, Iowa. Jane was the daughter of Isaac Newton McVay and Belinda (West) McVay. Jane is buried next to her sister, Nancy McVay, who died when she was 14. Jane was 22 when she died. She died exactly one month after her marriage to Robert N. Downs on Sept 17, 1855.
